Description:

2-Amino-4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-phenylnicotinonitrile (2APPN) is a potent corrosion inhibitor. It has been shown to inhibit the corrosion of metals by hydrochloric acid in an isotherm, with an inhibition efficiency of 97% at pH 3.0 and with a theory corrosion potential (TCP) of -0.8 V. 2APPN can also be used as a corrosion inhibitor for other acids such as nitric acid and phosphoric acid, with efficiencies of 92% and 100%, respectively. This compound has been shown to have high electrochemical stability and low adsorption on metal surfaces, which makes it useful in industrial settings where transfer and adsorption are important considerations.
