Product Information
- Dipotassiumbis(oxalato)platinate(2-) hydrate
- Dipotassium dioxalatoplatinate(2-) hydrate
Potassium bis(oxalato)platinate(II) dihydrate is a coordination complex that has antitumor effects. It is used in cancer research for the treatment of breast adenocarcinoma, as well as other types of cancer. The drug binds to DNA and prevents transcription and replication, which halts the growth of cancer cells. The cytotoxic effect is due to a number of mechanisms including inhibition of purine synthesis and n6-benzyladenosine methylation. Potassium bis(oxalato)platinate(II) dihydrate also has a high affinity for DNA, making it an ideal candidate for antitumor therapy.
