Cytidine 5'-diphosphate disodium salt is a monophosphate nucleotide that is an antiviral agent and an anticancer drug. Cytidine 5'-diphosphate disodium salt inhibits viral replication by inhibiting the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and proteins. It has been shown to be effective against herpes virus, vaccinia virus, Newcastle disease virus, and influenza A virus. Cytidine 5'-diphosphate disodium salt also has anti-cancer effects as it inhibits the growth of various tumor cells in vivo and in vitro. This drug is a phosphoramidite nucleoside that can be used for the modification of other nucleosides or as an activator for DNA synthesis.
