2-Chloro-6-O-methylinosine is a nucleoside that is used as an antiviral and anticancer agent. It is a monophosphate nucleotide with the chemical formula C7H9ClN2O5P. The compound has shown to be active against HSV, VZV, EBV, CMV, and HIV. 2-Chloro-6-O-methylinosine inhibits viral replication by acting as a competitive inhibitor of diphosphate (dNTP) incorporation into DNA. The enzyme thymidine kinase converts 2C6OMe into its corresponding diphosphate form. This product has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cancer and can be synthesized from other nucleosides such as adenosine or guanosine.
