1-Hydroxychrysene-d11 is a hydroxylated aromatic hydrocarbon that has been shown to inhibit the biosynthesis of estrogens. It has been found to be carcinogenic in a number of studies. 1-Hydroxychrysene-d11 is an isomeric form of chrysene and can be used as a biomarker for certain types of cancer. This compound has also been found to have an inhibitory effect on bile acid production, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of cytochrome P450 enzymes. 1-Hydroxychrysene-d11 binds to the estrogen receptor alpha, with a higher affinity than estradiol, and inhibits cellular proliferation and growth.
1-Hydroxychrysene-d11 can also be used as a biomarker for breast cancer and other types of cancers in which aromatase activity is high, such as bronchial epithelial cells and rat liver microsomes
