Product Information
Digalactosyldiacylglycerol is a galactolipid that is produced by the enzyme digalactosyldiacylglycerol synthase. It has been shown to have a matrix effect on lipids and also contains a signal peptide sequence. Digalactosyldiacylglycerol has been found in biological samples from humans, cows, sheep, pigs and horses. This lipid is an important component of many cell membranes and can be used for control analysis of lipids in cells. Digalactosyldiacylglycerol may be important for the synthesis of nucleic acids, as it helps form the beta-ribofuranosyl moiety which is used in RNA synthesis.
