It can be obtained from the reaction of aniline and 2-methoxybenzaldehyde in presence of concentrated hydrochloric acid. This chemical compound has been used as a precursor for the synthesis of ranolazine, a medicine that is used to treat angina pectoris. 1-Amino-3-(2-methoxyphenoxy)propan-2-ol can also be obtained from the reaction of piperazine and 2,4,6-trichlorobenzenesulfonyl chloride in presence of triethylamine. This chemical compound has been used as a precursor for the synthesis of aminopyridines, which are drugs that are used to treat high blood pressure or heart failure.
