Description:

2-Hydrazinylbenzonitrile hydrochloride is a neuroprotective agent that has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and to have a protective effect against oxidative stress. 2-Hydrazinylbenzonitrile hydrochloride has been shown to reduce the expression of proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β in vitro. It also inhibits the production of malondialdehyde, which may be due to its ability to scavenge superoxide anions. 2-Hydrazinylbenzonitrile hydrochloride can be used as an antioxidant system for the treatment of cerebral and acute phase diseases.
2-Hydrazinylbenzonitrile hydrochloride is not active against Gram-positive bacteria, but it does show activity against Gram-negative bacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
