Product Information
- Xylenol Orange Tetrasodium
Xylenol orange sodium is a colorant that is used in the analytical method called the lyotropic technique. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against clostridium perfringens, but not against other bacteria such as streptococcus or staphylococcus. Xylenol orange sodium binds to DNA and inhibits bacterial growth by preventing transcription and replication. Xylenol orange sodium also has potential use as a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent in biological samples or for medical applications, such as peroxide production, gadolinium chelation, and staining of tissue samples for histology.
