Product Information
L-ANAP is a protein that belongs to the family of synthetases. It catalyzes the transfer of an amino acid to the alpha-amino group of l-alanine, forming l-alanine peptides. L-ANAP is expressed in cardiac muscle cells at a rate comparable to other cardiac proteins such as actin, tropomyosin, and myosin regulatory light chain. The L-ANAP gene has been cloned and its expression verified using fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) in Xenopus oocytes injected with a plasmid containing the L-ANAP cDNA. The expression of L-ANAP is increased by treatment with hydrochloric acid or metal ions such as cadmium or nickel. L-ANAP has also been shown to have potentiation effects on cardiac muscles, which may be due to its homology domain with calcium/calmodulin binding domains in other proteins.
