- 2,6-Dichloro-9-(beta-D-ribofuranosyl)purine
2,6-Dichloro-9-(b-D-ribofuranosyl)purine (2,6-DCPR) is a synthetic nucleoside that is used as a building block for the synthesis of other nucleosides. 2,6-DCPR is an alkylating agent that can crosslink DNA strands by reacting with the phosphorus oxychloride groups in DNA. It has been shown that 2,6-DCPR inhibits lipase activity and induces apoptosis in HL60 cells. This drug also has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cancer cells. The mitochondrial membrane potential was decreased in HL60 cells and cancer cells treated with 2,6-DCPR.
