It is a synthetic nucleotide with a novel structure that can be phosphorylated to form the corresponding diphosphate, monophosphate, or phosphoramidites. 3N-(2,4-Dimethylbenzyl)-1-(5-O-DMT (3'-O-[(dimethylamino)methyl]oxime)-2'-deoxyribofuranosyl)thymidine is used as an antiviral agent against HIV and other retroviruses.
