6-(β-D-2-Deoxyribofuranosyl)-3,4-dihydro-8H-pyrimido[4,5-c][1,2]oxazin-7-one is a novel nucleoside that has been shown to have anticancer and antiviral properties. In vitro studies have shown the compound to activate both DNA and RNA synthesis in cells. The compound also inhibits the replication of HIV viruses. 6-(β-D-2-Deoxyribofuranosyl)-3,4-dihydro-8H-pyrimido[4,5-c][1,2]oxazin-7-one is synthesized from ribonucleosides or deoxyribonucleosides through phosphoramidite chemistry.
