2,6-Dichloro-7-methylpurine (2,6-DCMP) is a chlorinated purine analog that has anticancer activity. It is an ATP competitive inhibitor that inhibits protein synthesis by competitively binding to the alpha subunit of the ribosome. 2,6-DCMP has been shown to have strong antiviral activity against human immunodeficiency virus and cytotoxic effects on human adenocarcinoma cells in vitro.
