2-Ethylhexylamine hydrobromide is a solute that is typically used as a solvent for other chemicals. It has been shown to form micelles in the presence of water, and is often used as a cationic surfactant. 2-Ethylhexylamine hydrobromide has also been shown to be effective at solubilizing perovskite crystals, which are important for hydrogen production. This chemical can also form hydrogen bonds with other molecules, and is hydrophobic due to its alkylthio group. 2-Ethylhexylamine hydrobromide has also been shown to have some monomeric character, and as such can act as a surfactant. The solute is soluble in water, but only at high temperatures.
