Description:

2-Phenyl-9H-carbazole is a ligand that can be used as a catalyst in organic synthesis. It has been shown to have a wide variety of functional groups, such as carbonyl, carboxyl, and hydroxyl. 2-Phenyl-9H-carbazole is also a reactive molecule that can undergo oxidation or dehydrogenation reactions with the help of an oxidant or dehydrating agent. This compound can be synthesized by amination of nitrosobenzene with primary amines, yielding yields between 50%-98%. The use of this compound as a ligand in catalytic reactions may lead to some unwanted side effects, such as the formation of benzoic acid from benzannulation. This product may also react with other molecules to form undesirable products such as aldehydes and ketones.
