Product Information
4-Amino-3-chlorophenyl methanol is a reactive metabolite of 4-aminobiphenyl (4ABP) that has been shown to be tumorigenic in human liver cells, enhancing the carcinogenic activity of other chemicals. It has also been shown to have target tissue specific effects, with the greatest concentration found in the liver and kidneys. 4-Amino-3-chlorophenyl methanol is formed in humans by the oxidative metabolism of 4ABP and can be found as a metabolite in human tissues. Occupational exposure to 4ABP can lead to an increased risk for cancer, but this effect is dependent on the type of work and length of exposure. The chemical interaction between 4ABP and other compounds may also lead to increased levels of reactive metabolites such as 4-amino-3-chlorophenyl methanol.
