Rhein-8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside is a compound that belongs to the family of Fabaceae. It has been isolated from the roots of Cassia senna. The cytotoxicity and nephrotoxicity of this substance are not yet known, but it has been shown to be toxic to the liver and kidneys in animal studies. Rhein-8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside may also have antiemetic properties, and is used as an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicines for these purposes.
