Product Information
2H-1,4-Benzoxazin-2-one is a phenacyl with anti-tuberculosis properties. It is an anti-tuberculosis drug that inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase and preventing transcription. The 2H-1,4-benzoxazin-2-one has been synthesized in a two step process in which benzoic acid was condensed with pyruvic acid to form an intramolecular enamine. This product binds to amino groups on the bacterial ribosomes and prevents protein synthesis. The 2H-1,4-benzoxazin-2-one also contains two intramolecular hydrogen bonds that stabilize its structure.
