Product Information
Carotid stenosis is a narrowing of the carotid artery, which can lead to carotid contractile proteins and blood flow being reduced. This in turn can lead to an increased risk of stroke. Carotid stenosis is treated by widening the narrowed region. Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker that dilates the vessels by blocking calcium channels, thereby increasing blood flow. It has been shown to be effective for treating carotid stenosis. Nifedipine has also been shown to be useful for preventing heart attacks and stroke as well as for treatment of angina pectoris. Nifedipine is chemically related to other calcium channel blockers such as amlodipine, felodipine, nicardipine, and nimodipine.
