GRF is a peptide hormone that stimulates the release of growth hormone from the anterior pituitary gland. It also has been shown to be an inhibitor of protein interactions, such as binding to receptors and activating them. It has been shown to activate the G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) Metabotropic glutamate receptor 1 (mGluR1).
