Product Information
5-Bromopyridine-2-carboxylic acid benzyl ester (5BC) is an antifungal and insecticide that is used to control the growth of pathogenic fungi. 5BC inhibits the growth of plant pathogens by inhibiting their ability to synthesize proteins. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of plant pathogenic fungi, such as Fusarium graminearum, Alternaria brassicae, and Phytophthora infestans. 5BC also has been shown to have antifungal and insecticidal activities in laboratory studies. It is a competitive inhibitor of pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) at the active site of PLP dependent enzymes like aspartate aminotransferase, which are involved in protein synthesis.
