[(2E)-3-(dimethylamino)prop-2-en-1-ylidene]dimethylazanium is a chemical compound that is used as a precursor to tetrafluoroborate salts, which are used in the synthesis of hexafluoro-µ-phosphanuide. [(2E)-3-(dimethylamino)prop-2-en-1-ylidene]dimethylazanium can be prepared by the reaction of vinyl ethers with dimethylamine and perchloric acid. This process has been shown to produce an excellent yield of chloride, oxalyl, and formylation products.
