GSK598809 is a non-selective, high-affinity, amide-type dopamine D2 receptor antagonist that is currently in phase II clinical trials for the treatment of dystonia. This drug binds to the D2 receptor with high affinity and specificity and has shown efficacy in animal models of Parkinson's disease. GSK598809 has been shown to have low expression in humans, as well as no adverse effects on human red blood cells. It also has a low potential for abuse or dependence due to its lack of activity at other neurotransmitter receptors.
