Product Information
Lumateperone is a novel antipsychotic drug with a mechanism of action that is different from other antipsychotics. It acts on the intracellular targets of dopamine and glutamate, which are neurotransmitters that regulate mood and cognition. Lumateperone has been shown to be superior to placebo in treating schizophrenia and psychosis in an intent-to-treat population. This drug has not been found to have any adverse effects on body mass index or blood pressure, although it may cause dizziness, nausea, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. The most common side effect reported by patients was akathisia (inner restlessness).
