4-(Benzo[b]thiophen-2-yl)-3-bromo-5-hydroxydihydrofuran-2(3H)-one is a potent inhibitor of Caspase 1. It binds to the active site of the enzyme and prevents it from cleaving its substrate. This chemical is also an activator of Protein Kinase A, which is involved in the regulation of many cellular processes. 4-(Benzo[b]thiophen-2-yl)-3-bromo-5-hydroxydihydrofuran-2(3H)-one is a ligand for Beta1 adrenergic receptors and can be used as a research tool to study protein interactions, receptor activation, and ion channels.
