2-Pyrimidinemethanamine is an organic solvent that is used in the activation of diphosphines. It also has been used to synthesize amines, diacetates, and acylation reactions. 2-Pyrimidinemethanamine reacts with hydrogen chloride and 5-hydroxytryptamine to form a salt, which can be used as a synthetic intermediate for other compounds. This compound has been demonstrated to be useful in Friedel-Crafts reactions with chlorides. 2-Pyrimidinemethanamine reacts with a variety of acids to form salts and esters. This chemical has a neutral pH.
