Description:

Pyrimidine-5-carboxamidine hydrochloride (GC) is a guanosine analog that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the anticodon region of ribosomes. GC has been shown to bind to the replicons of many organisms, including bacteria, and inhibit the formation of mRNA from DNA. This drug also inhibits methyltransferase, which prevents transfer RNA from being modified with methionine. GC may be used in research for eukaryotes and deamination reactions in trna modification.
