It has also been used as a carbonate plasticizer and matrix modifier for polymers. 1-Vinylimidazole bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide is soluble in ionic liquids and ionic solvents. This solvent can be used to modify polymers, which allows them to have properties such as thermal stability, conductivity, and cyclic resistance. 1-Vinylimidazole bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide is also reversible with electrolytes, making it an excellent choice as an electrolyte in electrochemical cells.
