7-b-D-Ribofuranosyl-7H- tetrazolo[5,1i]purine is a novel modified ribonucleoside. It has the ability to activate DNA at the monophosphate level and can be used as a substrate for DNA polymerase and in the synthesis of deoxyribonucleosides. 7-b-D-Ribofuranosyl-7H- tetrazolo[5,1i]purine also has antiviral properties, which may be due to its inhibition of viral RNA synthesis. The compound is also used in anticancer treatment as it inhibits cellular proliferation by inhibiting DNA synthesis.
