2',3',5'-Tri-O-benzoyl-N6-benzyl-2'-C-methyladenosine is a novel phosphoramidite nucleoside that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. It also inhibits viral replication in vitro and in vivo, with antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1) and cytomegalovirus (CMV). This compound is synthesized by reacting 2',3',5'-triphosphate with N6-benzyloxycarbonyl-2'-C-methyladenosine in the presence of trimethylsilyl cyanide. The resulting product is purified by HPLC.
