5-Bromo-2-(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)methyl 3-methoxypyridine is a prodrug that is metabolized in vivo to the active form 5-bromo-2,3-dihydro-[1,2,4]triazolopyridin-3(2H)-one. This drug has been shown to be effective in the treatment of schizophrenia and other disorders associated with dopamine dysfunctions. The unsaturated bond in 5-Bromo-2-(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)methyl 3-methoxypyridine allows it to be converted into an azacyclic compound by the addition of two more atoms (e.g., hydrogen).
