Product Information
- Hexakis-(2,6-di-O-methyl)-α-cyclodextrin
2,6-Dimethyl-a-cyclodextrin is a chiral selector that is used in the separation of enantiomers during liquid chromatography. 2,6-Dimethyl-a-cyclodextrin has been shown to be an efficient and reproducible cholate and taurocholate extractant with linear range. It has also been shown to have good recoveries for the cholic acid and deoxycholic acid. 2,6-Dimethyl-a-cyclodextrin is used as a chiral selector in liquid chromatography. The separation of enantiomers during this process is based on the different affinity of each enantiomer for the cyclodextrin molecule. The selectivity of 2,6-Dimethyl-a-cyclodextrin comes from its ability to form hydrogen bonds with both hydroxyl groups at the same time, which leads to a rigid structure that only accommodates one enantiomer per cavity.
