The saccharides are glycosylated with 2-O-a-D-mannopyranosyl moieties for the purpose of increasing their water solubility. This saccharide has been synthesized by the modification of an oligosaccharide that has been modified to include a hydroxyl group. The carbohydrate is complex and contains many different types of sugars including glucose, mannose, and galactose.
