Product Information
A mixture of cytotoxic glycosides that are commonly found in plants of the genus Solanum. They have strong anti-tumoral properties and can trigger cell death via different mechanisms. The compounds can activate apoptosis but have also the ability to damage cell membranes, leading to necrosis. These steroidal glycoalkaloids act synergistically in disrupting biological membranes and liposomes, making them good combination for potential anti-cancer therapy formulations. Also, solamargine and solasonine are able to cause cytolysis of protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi.
