Description:
4-Methoxy-2,6-dimethylpyrimidine is a pyrimidine derivative that is used in the synthesis of other pyrimidines. It is obtained by acetoxylation of 4-methylpyrimidine with acetic anhydride in benzene. The resulting compound can be converted to 4,6-dimethoxy-2,5,7,8-tetrahydroisoquinoline by n-oxide formation followed by deprotection with hydrochloric acid.
