Tin protoporphyrin IX dichloride (SnPPIX) is a mitochondrial membrane potential stabilizer that has been shown to restore the function of ATP-sensitive potassium channels in cells. It also inhibits protease activity and cell signaling pathways, which may be due to its ability to bind to the active site of enzymes involved in these processes. Tin protoporphyrin IX dichloride has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against HL60 cells, with an IC50 of 0.3 µM. SnPPIX also has fluorescence properties, which can be used as a probe for measuring intracellular levels of ATP.
