Description

Tris(2,4-pentanedionato)gallium is a semiconductor with light emission properties. This compound has been synthesized as nanowires and can emit light in the visible region of the spectrum when excited by light at a wavelength of 400 nm. The nanowires are chemically stable, which may be due to their high surface area and the presence of hydroxyl groups. Tris(2,4-pentanedionato)gallium also efficiently catalyzes oxidation reactions in organic solvents. X-ray diffraction data reveal that tris(2,4-pentanedionato)gallium crystallizes in the hexagonal system with space group P6 3 /mmc and lattice constants a = 2.817 Å, b = 2.817 Å, c = 12.456 Å and β = 106.1° (Z=8). It is also shown to have an oxidation catalyst activity on boron
