Product Information
Dipropylamine hydriodide is a disulphide that is used as a solid catalyst in organic synthesis. It has been shown to be capable of activating many compounds and converting them into reactive species, which can then react with other molecules. It has been found that this material can be prepared in two different forms, namely the monoclinic and hexagonal polymorphs. The monoclinic form exhibits higher catalytic activity than the hexagonal form, which may be due to the greater number of reactive sites on the surface of the former. The kinetic data for these two forms are similar, but the activation energy required for the monoclinic form is slightly lower than that required for the hexagonal form. Dipropylamine hydriodide also reacts with halides to generate hydrogen chloride gas and hydrochloric acid gas.
