6-Nitro-benzooxazole-2-thiol is a heterocyclic amine that has been used as an inorganic base. It is synthesized from 6-nitrobenzooxazole and 2-mercaptobenzimidazole using elemental sulfur and solvents. 6-Nitrobenzooxazole-2-thiol can be used to produce a wide variety of organic compounds, including sulfides, which are useful for eliminating pesticides. This compound also has antitubercular activity and can be used as a sulfur source for elemental sulfur.
