2-([1,1'-Biphenyl]-2-yl)acetic acid is a synthetic compound that has been shown in toxicological studies to have the ability to inhibit cell proliferation. It is also used as an antimicrobial agent for a variety of bacteria and fungi. The drug inhibits growth by inhibiting the synthesis of nucleic acids and protein. 2-[(1,1'-biphenyl)-2-yl]acetic acid has been found to be synergistic with felbinac when used as an anti-inflammatory agent in mice. However, it has also been shown to increase PGE2 levels and may cause side effects such as headache, nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, or constipation. 2-[(1,1'-biphenyl)-2-yl]acetic acid may also interact with other drugs such as anticoagulants or oral contraceptives.
