DL-dihydrozeatin is a plant metabolite that belongs to the group of alkylthio compounds. It has been shown to have an effect on cell culture, with a ph optimum of 7.5. DL-dihydrozeatin has also been shown to significantly alter fatty acid metabolism in cultured cells, and may be able to reduce insulin resistance. Dihydrozeatin is synthesized from zeatin by sequence-specific enzymes in the plastid.
