Pentamethyl-3-phenyldisiloxane is a silicon compound that is used in the diagnosis of diseases. It is used for sample preparation and dissociates in water without the presence of other solvents. This chemical has an unsaturated alkyl group and as such is not symmetrical. Unsymmetrical molecules are less stable than symmetrical molecules.
