Tribromo-1,3,5-triazine is a 5-membered heteroaryl that contains a cyanuric ring. It is a reactive chemical with the chemical formula H(NBr)2C=NBr. Tribromo-1,3,5-triazine reacts with ethylene diamine and copper to produce a copper complex. It also reacts with sodium salts and pyrimidine compounds to form sodium salts of tribromo-1,3,5-triazines. Tribromo-1,3,5-triazine is used in the production of triazines as well as other chemicals such as chloramines. The nitrogen atoms on the tribromo-1,3,5-triazine molecule can be oxidized by chlorine to form the corresponding bromamine or chloramine compound.
