Description:

3-Ethyl-2-methyl-1,3-benzothiazol-3-ium 4-methylbenzene-1-sulfonate is a tosylate salt that is used in organic synthesis. It is a mesoionic compound that can be prepared by the reaction of benzaldehyde with sodium methylsulfinate and ethyl iodide. This compound has been shown to react with anhydrides such as acetic anhydride and pivaloyl chloride to form esters.
