Praseodymium carbonate hydrate (PrCO3.H2O) is a compound of rare-earth metal praseodymium and carbonate, with the chemical formula PrCO3.H2O. It is a white or colorless crystalline solid that is insoluble in water. The crystal has a monoclinic crystal system and belongs to the space group P2/c, with unit cell dimensions of a = 18.814 Å, b = 7.906 Å, c = 9.243 Å, β = 100.00°, V = 12861Å3, Z = 4
The compound was obtained by heating lanthanum carbonate at 800 °C for 30 minutes in air and then reacting it with neodymium oxide at 1000 °C for 10 hours in argon gas under an atmosphere of nitrogen gas. The diffraction pattern showed that it had the same structure as lanthan
