Description:
2,6-Di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)pyridine is a chiral compound with two enantiomers that can be distinguished by the spontaneous nature of their reactions. The compound is found in nature and has been shown to have antiinflammatory activity. The crystal structure of 2,6-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)pyridine has been determined using single crystal x-ray diffraction and conformational analysis. This study revealed that the ligand was bound to the metal ion in a supramolecular fashion, which led to the antiinflammatory activity.
