Product Information
- Glycine n-octyl ester hydrochloride
- Octyl Glycinate Hydrochloride
Octyl 2-aminoacetate hydrochloride is an inorganic compound that is a byproduct of the reaction of toluene and inorganic acid. This reaction produces a mixture of octyl 2-aminoacetate hydrochloride, octanol, and octanoic acid. Octyl 2-aminoacetate hydrochloride can be used in the production of glycine from ammonia and chloroacetic acid. It also has been shown to be an effective sterilizing agent for metals and esters. The mechanism for this reaction is still unknown, but it is suspected that the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between an alkyl ester and a pyrazoline produces octyl 2-aminoacetate hydrochloride as a byproduct.
