Product Information
Daphmacropodine is a hexacyclic quinolizidine alkaloid that has been isolated from the root of Daphne genkwa. It is used for the treatment of bowel disease, with a predominately anti-inflammatory effect. Daphmacropodine inhibits the inflammatory response by inhibiting the production of various cytokines and chemokines, including tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-8, and monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1). Daphmacropodine also decreases pro-inflammatory oxidative stress by preventing lipid peroxidation and scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) in vitro. The active form may be metabolized through oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, conjugation with glucuronic acid, or hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases.
