Description:

Eicosanoic-D39 acid is a surfactant that has been shown to reduce the surface tension of water by interacting with water molecules. It is also shown to be able to interact with other materials and surfaces, such as alkali metals. Eicosanoic-D39 acid is uncharged and interacts with hydrated metal cations, forming ion-pairs. This interaction may occur through hydrogen bonding or electrostatic interactions. The hydrophobic groups in the acid form monolayers on the surface of the water, which are not charged and can be used for highlighting purposes.
